Yes, 2019 starts with a defeat but a good game nonetheless with the brainy eminence Prof P in charge (and (relatively speaking) ungrumpy - not sure why) and the match reporter thinks the new boys promise good. What about Ali's opening bowling of 3 overs for 5 runs and stylish batting of 19 (pick him every game Don) and equally good new boy Abbas taking a wicket with his very first ball for the Associates! Phew....Mr Taylor had by this time forgotten how old he really is and had pulled a tendon again so took to scoring and match reporting, probably for the last times in both
Good bowling from Prashanth, fast bowling and a wicket from Rohan and that Associates all star Souvik taking a wicket and knocking a stylish 14. Something had clearly annoyed Ramesh (perhaps Geoff had been being rude after all) as he hit 3 mighty 4s in the first over. Phew again.... Mr Richard LLoyd excelled in the field and was unlucky to be caught and bowled by Spiers a rather good looking bowler (in the cricketing sense) who Carisbrooke brought on in a rather unsporting way to deny us victory. The scorer was getting somewhat carried away with things by this time and had to be carried away but not before reporting that other trooper Raj was also there somewhere on the field (it was very dark, in fact pitch black by the end)
All this and the good Doctor Whalley allegedly returns next week...... Surely the season promises well...
